Today is the Solemnity of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the Church’s year before we move into Advent.

There will be various opportunities for the Advent season this year but especially for the children the Children’s Liturgy team have generously agreed to present the liturgy every Sunday with an additional twist. Hopefully the children, persuaded by their parents, will come along and take part in this. There is a list at the back of the Church for children to sign up on if they wish to be involved.

We will also begin collecting gifts for the children of prisoners. Please wrap any gifts you make and mark the age and whether for a boy or girl on a label.

Monday: No Mass in the morning but there will be Mass at 7.00 p.m. which will be the traditional November Mass for all deceased parishioners, relatives and friends.

Next Sunday: Nativity Carol Concert, including the Blessing of the Crib, by Archbishop Cushley, at 3.00 p.m. in St. Andrew Square Gardens. All welcome.  Fuller details are on the poster in the porch..

Diary Dates:

26th November: St. Augustine’s High School Christmas Fayre organized by the Parent Council from 10.00 a.m. – 12 noon in the school dining area. Fuller details are on the poster in the porch. All welcome.

17th December: Advent Day of prayer led by Father Jock Dalrymple in the Little Sisters of the Poor in Gilmore Place from 11.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. All welcome.

November is the month when we remember those members of our families and parishioners who have died and we pray especially for them.

  • The Book of Remembrance is at the back of the Church into which you can add the names of any people you wish to be remembered and who have died in the past year. If you have put names in in previous years there is no need to repeat the entry.
  • The annual November Mass for the repose of the souls of all deceased parishioners, friends and families will take place on 21st November at 7.00 p.m. in the Church. All are welcome to come and take part and please feel free to invite relatives and friends of parishioners who have died who may live in other parishes.

A new Readers’ Rota is in the process of being prepared. Please let me know if you wish to offer your services for this important ministry in the life of the Church.  Training can be given.

With every best wish and Blessing

To you, your families

and those who are dear to you

Monsignor Tony
