Today: The new Eucharistic Ministers’ Rota is ready for collection from the sacristy after Mass. Please note the date of the meeting mentioned below.
Sunday: The Noisy Nutters group will be in charge of the Coffee Morning in the hall after Mass.
Sunday: Meeting for existing and new Eucharistic Ministers at 2.00 p.m. in the Church. Please make every effort to attend.
Sunday: The annual pilgrimage at Carfin in honour of St. Margaret takes place. Fuller details are on the poster in the porch.
Tuesday: The monthly Vocations Mass in St. Joseph’s Gilmore Place resumes. For this month only it will be at 7.00 p.m. and will then revert to its traditional time of 7.30 p.m. All welcome to go along and pray for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life.
Thursday: Teas, coffees and biscuits have resumed in the house after 9.00 a.m. Mass. All welcome.
Thursday: Annual Mass for all current staff, teaching and non-teaching, in schools in the City and retired staff. It is at 7.00 p.m. in St. Catharine’s Convent in Lauriston Gardens. All welcome
Next Saturday/Sunday: There will be a short meeting of about 15 – 20 minutes for those involved in Church Cleaning already and those who expressed an interest via the census forms returned completely. The meetings will be in the Church after the 6.00 p.m. Mass or after the 10.00 a.m. Mass, whichever you normally attend. You don’t need to come to both !
Next Sunday: Meeting at 2.00 p.m. in the Church for both existing Card Stall helpers and those new helpers who expressed an interest through the census form.
Diary Dates:
17th September: Meeting of existing members of the Social Committee and those who expressed an interest in becoming involved on the census sheets. It is a planning meeting for the year ahead so come along armed with ideas to the house at 7.00 p.m.
18th September: First in a series of four lectures under the title Vatican II, Fifty Golden Years Part 2’. The first speaker is Bishop Taylor, retired Bishop of the Diocese of Galloway. He was involved in support of El Salvador and is currently vice President of Progressio, the successor to the Catholic Institute for International Relations. Particularly relevant was his service as chair of the International Committee for English in the Liturgy from 1997 – 2002, a particularly difficult time when the initial attempts to bring in a new translation of the Liturgy was being attempted (It is not the one we now have) Fuller details are on the poster in the porch. The meeting is at 7.30 p.m. in the Lauriston Centre.
20th September: Meeting of parents of children currently in P4 who will be eligible to be confirmed and make their First Communion. It is at 7.00 p.m. in the Church Hall.
24th September: The Annual Romero Lecture will take place in the Lauriston Jesuit Centre at 7.00 p.m. The title for the lecture is ‘Blood and Sweat: the witness of Romero’s relics’ and will be given by Jan Graffius, Curator at Stoneyhurst College who has worked on the conservation of the various relics linked to Archbishop Romero including the vestments he was wearing when he was murdered in 1980.
25th September: Planning Meeting for the forthcoming Sale of Work which is due to take place on November 18th. Even if you have been involved before please make every effort to come to this meeting at 7.00 p.m. in the Church Hall. New helpers, volunteers and ideas will be welcome.
27th September: Meeting at 7.00 p.m. in the Church hall for all those currently involved in the Keep Fit class and those who expressed an interest on the census sheets. It is to discuss whether or not the group will be able to function given the small numbers.
27th September: Meeting of the Parish Fabric and Finance Committee in the house at 7.00 p.m. This is for the existing members and those who expressed an interest in becoming members on the recent census sheet
Many thanks to those who Gift Aid their Offertory donations. As a result the Parish received £8239.40 this week from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. This makes a huge difference in managing the finances of the Parish. If you would like to start a Gift Aid declaration it is not too late. Forms and explanations are available after Mass.
