Sunday: The Coffee Morning will take place after 10.00 a.m. Mass with the Noisy Nutters group in charge. All welcome to go round to the Hall after Mass.
Tuesday: Meeting of parents of the children preparing for their First Communion at 6.30 p.m. in the Church. Each child should be represented at this meeting but the children do not need to be present.
Next Sunday: Enrolment ceremony during 10.00 a.m. Mass for children preparing for their First Communion.
Diary Dates:
12th May: Afternoon Tea Dance organised by the Social Group in Our Lady’s, Currie in aid of the Parish Project Fund. It is in the Gibson Craig Hall in Currie from 2.00 p.m. – 4.30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale priced £5.00 including the tea.
21st May: You may be aware that the Holy Father has instituted a Feast called “Our Lady, Mother of the Church.” It is a feast to be kept throughout the whole church every year from now on the Monday after Pentecost Sunday. There has not been such a Feast in the Church until now. Since this Feast has a particular relevance to the parish of Our Lady, Mother of the Church, in Currie and to mark the occasion there will be a 7.00 p.m. Mass there followed by refreshments in the Hall afterwards. All are welcome.

29th May:The Archdiocese is launching a new Pro Life Office. Its aim is to give a positive message of hope and support to unborn children, their mothers and all who need help. It will be run under the supervision of Father Jeremy Milne, Vicar Episcopal for Marriage and Families. He has asked that two delegates from each parish to go along to this launch at 7.00 p.m. in Gillis with the possibility of becoming the ongoing Parish pro Life representatives and point of contact. If you are interested on representing the Parish please let me know so that I can advise Gillis accordingly.
6th September: Bishop Robert Barron of Los Angeles will lead an evening on “Proclaiming Christ in Our Culture.” This will take in the Usher Hall. Admission is by tickets which are on sale now, priced £10.00 and £6.00 (concessions). Contact the Usher Hall Box Office by telephone at 0131.228.1155 or online at usherhall.co.uk or in person and give them the code “Fire 18” prior to booking your tickets. That lets them know that you are from a parish of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh. Until May 1st priority is being given to people from this Archdiocese and after that tickets will be on open sale.
Sensitive Issue: Someone asked me recently if the only way your name comes off the request for prayers for the sick is by dying. Obviously this is not the case but it did alert me to the fact that some names have been on for a significant time and no one seems to know who some of the people are and whether they should still be on the list. Therefore I propose to take all the names off the list from the first weekend in June unless someone from the family asks that they be kept on. The list would then be built up again. It is best if it is a family member makes this request since it can happen that someone does not want their name on the list and a well intentioned neighbour, friend or parishioner has made the request without asking the person’s permission.
