Sunday: There will be a short meeting in the hall after 10.00 a.m. Mass for everyone involved in leading the Children’s liturgy. Anyone interested in becoming involved in the Children’s Liturgy is most welcome to come along and meet the team.
Sunday: National Pilgrimage to Carfin during which the Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be welcomed as part of the 100th Anniversary celebrations of the Apparitions of Our Lady in Fatima. There will also be an act of consecration of Scotland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as part of the celebration. Mass begins at 3.00 p.m. with Archbishop Tartaglia as main celebrant and Bishop McGee of Argyll and the Isles preaching.
Monday is the Feast of St. Cuthbert, the patron saint of our parish. He was born in 635 and entered the monastery in Melrose when he was 17. He became known as a preacher and teacher and travelled around the borders and northeast England. He settled in Lindisfarne (Holy Island) but spent time on Inner Farne, living as a hermit. He became Bishop of Hexham but was unhappy in this role and returned to Lindisfarne where he died. Initially he was buried there but because of the fear of his grave being vandalised, the monks moved his body. His final resting place is Durham Cathedral.
So in this week of his Feast, let us ask God’s blessing on the people of our Parish that we continue to grow in love of God and each other. Let us also remember the priests and people of the Parish who served the parish so faithfully and have died and gone to their eternal reward. May they rest in peace. May St. Cuthbert, pray for us and them.

11th September: Mass for Vocations, celebrated by Monsignor Philip J. Canon Kerr, in St. Joseph’s in Gilmore Place. It is at 7.30 p.m. Refreshments will be served afterwards. All welcome.
12th September: Meeting of Parish Fabric & Finance Committee in the house at 7.00 p.m.
17th September: The annual pilgrimage to the tomb of Venerable Margaret Sinclair to pray for her beatification will take place at St Patrick’s. All are very welcome. A Holy Hour at 2.00 p.m. will be followed by Mass at 4.30 p.m. The principal celebrant will be Archbishop Cushley.
26th September: Meeting for the parents who have children eligible (P3 or above) to make their First Reconciliation next term. It is at 6.30 p.m. in the Church Hall. Registration forms will be distributed so it is important your child is represented. The children do not need to be present.
26th September: Meeting for the parents who have children eligible (P4 or above) to make their First Communion next year. It is at 7.30 p.m. in the Church Hall. Registration forms will be distributed so it is important your child is represented. The children do not need to be present.
7th October: The St. Andrew’s First Aid will be running the four hour course for the passkeepers. It will last from 1.00 p.m. until 5.00 p.m. I need an accurate number since there is a charge per person and packs need to be prepared by the trainer for each participant. Please confirm with me whether you intend to be present as soon as possible. This is a combined St. Cuthbert’s and Our Lady’s session will be held in St. Cuthbert’s Hall.
The Sponsored Walk over the Forth Bridge was duly completed. If you sponsored anyone please pay any money due as soon as possible. Please tick your name off on the sheet once you have paid. Many thanks to those who made the effort to complete the walk – some more times than others.
