Today we will be collecting for the homeless here in Edinburgh, the gifts being distributed via the St. Catharine’s Homeless Project.

Today: Lists are at the back of the Church for Readers, Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Passkeepers and volunteers to assist at the social events in the Hall after the Christmas Masses, to indicate their availability over the Christmas and New Year period. The social events in the Hall are in particular need of helpers. If you are willing to help, please sign up today.

Today: The new rota for the washing and ironing of the Altar linens is available from the sacristy for those who have not received it direct by email. It comes into effect this weekend so please make sure you have your copy one way or another. Many thanks to all who undertake this vital work for the Parish.

Sunday: The Coffee Morning takes place after Mass with the Noisy Nutters Group running it this week. All welcome round to the Hall for bacon rolls etc

Tuesday: There will be an evening Mass on Tuesday in place of the morning Mass so that those who cannot come in the morning have the opportunity to come.

Tuesday: An Advent evening of reflection through poetry and music led by the Dovecot Singers in St. Catharine’s Convent at 7.30 p.m. There will be a retiral collection to support the work of the St. Catharine’s Homeless project. All welcome

Thursday: Penitential Service at 7.00 p.m. in Our Lady’s in Currie providing an opportunity for individual confession and absolution. There will be three priests available.

Saturday: Advent Day of prayer led by Father Jock Dalrymple in the Little Sisters of the Poor in Gilmore Place from 11.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. All welcome.

Next Sunday: Ceremony of enrolment for children preparing for their First Reconciliation during 10.00 a.m. Mass.

 

Diary Dates:

19th December: Service of Reconciliation in St. Cuthbert’s at 7.00 p.m. with the opportunity for individual confession & absolution. There will be six priests available for confessions.

20th December: St. Augustine’s High School Christmas Service will take place in St. Cuthbert’s at 7.00 p.m. All are welcome to attend and hopefully parishioners will come along to support this service and take a little time to pause, pray and reflect.

 

24th December:                         Christmas Eve.                                    

No 6.00 p.m. Vigil Mass in St. Cuthbert’s

This will lead straight into the First Mass of Christmas. It is important to be in the Church for the Carols and the readings since they form an integral part of tonight’s Liturgy.

25th December:             The Nativity of Our Lord.

Mass at 9.30 a.m. in St. Cuthbert’s.

Please note that the time of Mass is changed from previous years.

This is to allow a less rushed period between Mass in St. Cuthbert’s and Mass in Our Lady’s due to Father Tom being away.
