Today: Following on the two letters issued last week, relating to the Aged & Infirm Clergy Fund, one is from the Archbishop and the other is from the Diocesan Director of Finance the retiral collection for the Aged and Infirm Clergy Fund, which looks after some of the costs of our retired priests will be taken up today. If you intend Gift Aiding your contribution please do not use the special collection envelope in your pack. There is a special one to be used and which can be collected today after Mass. You need to fill in the Gift Aid Declaration on the envelope.
Today: If you have not already done so, please collect a copy of the booklet ‘Cluster Parishes Together Handbook’. This is the booklet which will be used in the next stage of the debate and discussion on the way forward for the Archdiocese. Please read it carefully. The dates and venues of the three main meetings will be notified next week hopefully following on a planning meeting convened by Father Quinlan in the course of this coming week.
Today: If you wish any petitions taken to Lourdes on the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage there will be a box into which they can be put. They should be in a sealed envelope with ‘Lourdes Petitions’ written on it. Please do not put money into the envelope.
Sunday: The coffee morning takes place in the Hall after Mass with the Vocations Group in charge. All welcome to sample the bacon rolls and other goodies.
The half yearly draw for the 200 Club will also take place with prizes of £200 and £50 going to the lucky winners just in time for the holidays.
Friday: Rev Tony Lappin and the Rev James McMorrin will be ordained to the priesthood in the Cathedral at 7.00 p.m. Please remember them both in these days running up to their ordination ceremony and in the days after it. You are welcome to attend it if you are able.
Next Saturday/Sunday: Guess what – the last retiral collection before the holidays. (hopefully) This one is for Peter’s Pence the fund which the Pope uses to respond to various requests he receives for financial assistance.
Diary Dates:
2nd July: It is hoped to hold the annual Parish Barbeque and Quiz after the 6.00 p.m. Mass. Tickets will be £7.00 which includes two burgers and salads. Children’s tickets will be £3.00. In order to gauge interest and avoid unnecessary ordering of food there is a list at the back of the Church on which to indicate if you plan to come and how many tickets you might need.
8th – 15th July: The annual Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, led by Archbishop Cushley, will take place. Booking is now open and I have some forms and information if you are interested. I have a limited supply in the sacristy. 29th August: Pastoral Ministry Training Course: – An Information Evening at 7.00 p.m. in the Gillis Centre. The Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh will offer a one year course in the New Evangelisation and Ministry starting in Autumn of this Year. This is validated by the Maryvale Institute. Participants will take part in three modules and three study days. The first study day will be Saturday 8th October 2016.
