Today: There are still copies of the Pastoral Letter from Archbishop Cushley entitled ‘We have found the Messiah’ in which he presents his vision for the future of the Church in the Archdiocese available as you leave Mass. This is the document, along with the letter previously issued on which discussion and meetings will take place soon. There is a covering letter from the Archbishop to go with it. Please make sure you have copies of both to enable you to take a full and informed role in the discussions and meetings to follow.
Sunday: The Coffee Mornings resume their normal cycle with the Noisy Nutters group being in charge. All welcome in the Hall after Mass for bacon rolls etc.
Sunday: The 50’s and 60’s dance night is next Saturday, and there’s nothing worse than showing up to a shindig without the right moves. So shimmy on down to the church hall at 2.00 p.m. to learn how to Swing Dance like a professional. All ages and dance backgrounds welcome; blue suede shoes not required. Tuesday: Open Parish Meeting in the Hall at 7.00 p.m. to pray, reflect on and discuss the Archbishop’s recent Pastoral letter ‘We have found the Messiah.’ and his other letters. Please read these before you come and bring your copies with you on the night.
Saturday: ‘Stand up for Life’ the annual Pro life chain will begin with the praying of the Rosary in the Sacred Heart at 10.00 a.m. gathering thereafter at the Usher Hall from 10.45 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. A light lunch will follow in Lauriston Hall afterwards. All welcome. Fuller details are on the poster in the porch.
Saturday: Advance warning ! 50’s & 60’s Dance Night in the Church Hall with live music. All proceeds will be going to the Parish Project Fund. It will be a BYOB and nibbles night and tickets (£6 for adults and £3.00 for children) are on sale now. Please put the date in your diary and come along.
Next Saturday/Sunday is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and the Religious Life. There will be a retiral collection at both Masses for the Ecclesiastical Students’ Fund which helps support the students in training for the priesthood.
Diary Dates:
30th April: Meeting with parents of P4 children in anticipation of their Confirmation and First Communion. It will be at 7.00 p.m. in the Church Hall. Please note that the children do not need to be present but every child should be represented by a parent or guardian.
Church Stall: If you have ordered copies of ‘Day by Day’ or ‘Living Faith’ reflection booklets please collect them as soon as possible. Other goods are also available from the stall so why not stop and have a look.
Lost Property: If you have lost something and have not yet checked the lost property cupboards at the back of the Church please do so as soon as possible. They are now reaching their capacity with glasses, soft toys, false teeth, missals, scarves, umbrellas, jewellery and so on. You name it – it has been left in the Church. Anything not claimed will be disposed of appropriately in a couple of week’s time.
