Today is the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. Readers please note that the readings used relate to the Feast Day and not to the 24th Sunday of the year.
Today: The new issue of Living Faith is available from the stall. Those of you who have it ordered please collect it as soon s possible.
Sunday: Full service has resumed for the Coffee Morning after Mass i.e. bacon rolls etc. This weekend the Vocations Group will be in charge. Why not make time to pop round to the Hall and see what is on offer as well as meeting fellow parishioners.
Saturday: Napro Technology is a lower cost alternative to IVF. If you would like to hear/learn more you are welcome at St. Columba’s Church Hall between 1.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. to hear about this breakthrough in identifying symptoms and understanding causes of women’s health issues. The talk will be followed by refreshments and entertainment. Tickets cost £5.00. Next Saturday/Sunday: There will be a retiral collection at both Masses for the Aged & Infirm Clergy Fund of the Archdiocese which helps look after those priests who have given long years of service to the Dioceses and are now enjoying a well earned retirement.
Next Sunday: The first National Youth Pilgrimage to St. Margaret’s Dunfermline will take place organised by the Catholic Youth Service of Scotland beginning at 1.30 p.m. Full details on the poster in the porch.
Diary Dates:
23rd September: Meeting for parents of P3 children who will be preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in 2015. It is important for each child to be represented but the children themselves do not need to be present. The meeting is at 7.00 p.m. in the Church Hall.
26th September: Following on a previous successful event, there will be a Cheese and Wine Tasting Evening in the Church Hall from 7.00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m. There will be a guide to take you through wines and selection of cheeses. Tickets, priced £12 (over 18s only) and further information can be obtained from Stuart Harley (07717 193425) or by signing on the list at the back of the Church. Proceeds will go to the Parish Project Fund. More details are on the poster at the back of the Church. But don’t leave it too long since a maximum of 25 places are available.

14th Novembermay seem a long way off but on that night at 7.00 p.m. in the hall there will be an opportunity to raise money for the Parish Projects by holding a talent contest. So if you have a talent, or think you have, please let us know so that we can gauge whether this would work. There is a list at the back of the Church on which you can sign up and entry is open from P7 upwards to any age. If there are a lot of entries it may be necessary to hold preliminary heats. Judges will have their say but the winners will be voted for by the audience. Each vote will cost 50p and you will be able to buy as many ballot papers as you wish. More details in due course.
