Today marks the start of the third week of the Advent season. This weekend we begin collecting gifts for the homeless which will be distributed through the St. Catharine’s Convent Homeless project network
Lists are at the back of the Church for readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Passkeepers and volunteers to assist at the social events in the Hall after the Christmas Masses, to indicate their availability over the Christmas and New Year period. The social events in the Hall are in particular need of helpers.
Altar servers please come to the sacristy and tick on the appropriate list about their availability for serving Mass over Christmas and New Year.
Today: The new rota for Eucharistic Ministers is ready for collection in the sacristy. Please collect your copy after Mass since it comes into effect next weekend.
Sunday: There will be a celebration of the Children’s Liturgy during the 10.00 a.m. Mass. During Advent, the Children’s Liturgy will be celebrated every Sunday along with some practical activities in the Hall after Mass. The team have come up with lots of exciting ideas for the children so parents please encourage your children to go along and take part.
Sunday: The Coffee Morning after 10.00 a.m. Mass will be organised by the Vocations Group. All welcome to go round to the Hall and take part.
The half yearly draw for the 200 Club will be taking place with prizes of £200 and £50 going to two lucky winners.
Sunday: The Sisters of Mercy of St. Catharine’s invite you to the celebration of their congregational Feast Day Mass at 6.30 p.m. in the convent in Lauriston Gardens. All welcome.
Monday: Service of Reconciliation in the Church at Our Lady’s in Currie at 7.00 p.m. There will be three priests available for individual confession and absolution. Please take advantage of this service to prepare for Christmas. Please note confessions will not be heard on Christmas Eve.
Tuesday: Installation ceremony to the Chapter of Canons during the 12.45 p.m. Mass at the Cathedral.
Tuesday: St. Augustine’s High School Carol Service in St. Kentigern’s at 7.00 p.m. Refreshments will be served afterwards. All welcome.

This will lead straight into the First Mass of Christmas. It is important to be in the Church for the Carols and the readings since they form an integral part of tonight’s Liturgy.

Please note that the time of Mass is changed from previous years.
This is to allow a less rushed period between Mass in St. Cuthbert’s and Mass in Our Lady’s due to Father Tom being away.

28th December: Archbishop Cushley will celebrate Mass in St. David’s Dalkeith at 12 noon to mark the Feast of the Holy Innocents. All welcome.
The Church Stall has the new edition of Living Faith (January – March 2014) available at £1.40p. All remaining Christmas cards, calendars are also available at half price.
