Diary Dates:

1st September: The two councils of St. Cuthbert’s and Our Lady’s have planned a pilgrimage to St. Mary’s Cathedral to mark the Year of Faith.  It will begin with a talk from Monsignor Regan, the administrator after which he will show some of the historical artifacts which are housed in the Cathedral.  There would then be a short service followed by an Afternoon Tea in the Cathedral Hall.  All going should assemble on the steps of the Cathedral at 2.15 p.m. and should note that Mass is not part of the visit. Payment is now due and should be handed in after Mass today or next weekend.

8th September: The annual Margaret Sinclair Pilgrimage will take place at St. Patrick’s in the Cowgate, beginning with a Holy Hour at 2.30 p.m. followed by Mass at 4.00 p.m. with Bishop Robson being the main celebrant and preacher.

8th September: The annual National Pilgrimage to Carfin takes place, this year in honour of St. Columba.  Mass begins at 3.00 p.m., with Bishop Toal from Argyll and the Isles, being the preacher.  All welcome to attend.  Fuller details are on the poster in the porch.

Thank you to those who gather on a Thursday after Mass for coffee and those who hand in 1p and 2p coins.  As a result a cheque for £200 was received for the Parish Project Fund.

Many thanks to all those involved in organising and all who came along to the Parish Barbeque.  It raised the sum of £488.50 for the Parish Project.

A  Letter of Thanks has been received from Sister Alberta, the Franciscan Missionary of Mary, who made the recent deanery appeal.  It raised £949.39 and Sister says in her letter, ‘I assure you that this will go a long way towards helping those whose needs are greater.’ The full letter is on the porch notice board.

Prayer to be said at the end of Mass for Archbishop elect Leo Cushley in the days running up to his Episcopal Ordination.

Lord our God

You have called Leo your servant

as bishop and pastor of your Church

in St Andrews and Edinburgh.

May he keep watch over the whole flock

to which the Holy Spirit has appointed him as shepherd,

preaching the word of God with unfailing patience and sound teaching

so that with faith and love he protects the bride of God, his holy Church.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen

With every best wish and blessing to you,

your families

and all those who are dear to you.

Monsignor Tony.
