SundayA virulent outbreak of dry rot has been discovered in the hall kitchen and this means there has to be a chemical treatment of a significant area followed by a full clean and redecoration of the kitchen.  Until all this has been done the kitchen is not useable due to the amount of dust generated by the work and the strong smell of the chemicals being used. The work is progressing well.  The new fans have been installed, the floor is in place but not the floor covering.  The joists and the walls are due another spray with powerful chemicals after which there will be a deep clean.   Then it will be decorated before the units are moved back.  It looks as if it will be the first week in November.  My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. The main hall is useable.

Tuesday: ‘The Priestly Poet, the Poet as Priest,’ a talk by Father Michael Kirwan S.J.  in the Lauriston Hall at 7.30 p.m.  Fuller details are on the poster in the porch.

Thursday: The Coffee and Teas have resumed after the 9.00 a.m. Mass.  All welcome to come through to the house straight after Mass.

Next Sunday is Mission Sunday, the day kept throughout the Church as a Day of Prayer for the spreading of the Gospel in Mission Countries.  There will be a retiral collection at the end of Mass for the work of Missio Scotland

It will take place in tandem with the Coffee Morning after Mass. You ‘buy’ a table for £15 which will go to the Parish Project Fund and from it you sell whatever you want as long as it is legal.  It could be knitting, homemade cards, no restrictions.  What you make, you keep, unless of course you want to make a further donation to the Parish Project.  For further information contact Frances Divit, 444.1635 or Ben Malone 443.1708.  There is a list at the back of the Church on which you can sign if interested.

Lourdes: I will be travelling to Lourdes with an Across Jumbulance group, leaving in the early hours of 17th October – this Thursday.  If you have any petitions you wish taken please hand then in by Tuesday evening in a sealed envelope and I will take them to the Grotto and remember you and your intentions as we pray there.

Emergency cover while I am absent will be provided by Father Tom (449.2372) or Father Tony Quinlan O.M.I. (453.5035).  I am grateful to them for providing this cover and to the parishioners who will be looking after the house and leading Liturgies of the Word and Distribution of Holy Communion on some of the weekdays.

With every best wish and blessing to you,

your families

and all those who are dear to you.
