Sunday: The Coffee Morning in the Hall will be organised by the Vocations Group this week. All are welcome after Mass.
The monthly draw for the 200 Club will also take place.
Thursday: I will be leaving in the early hours to go on pilgrimage to Lourdes as chaplain to a National Across group on the Jumbulance. If you have any prayer intentions you would like taken to the shrine please put them in to a sealed envelope with ‘Lourdes Petitions’ on the outside. I will take them to the Grotto and will remember them in my prayers.

Next Sunday is Mission Sunday the day when the Church throughout the world prays for the work of those involved in missionary activity of all sorts. There will be a retiral collection for the work of Missio Scotland, which through the Vatican supports Missionary activity in different countries e.g. a baby’s home on the outskirts of Kampala in Uganda. This takes care of babies who have been abandoned, neglected or orphaned.
Diary Dates:
28th October: Mass of Thanksgiving in St. Kentigern’s, to mark 70th Anniversary of the Archdiocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage and the Edinburgh Lourdes Hospitalité. Archbishop Cushley will be the main celebrant. The Mass will be followed by a celebratory Meal & Reception in the Hall. You are very welcome to attend one of these events if you cannot make both. Tickets cost £30 for the Meal/Reception only (3 course meal and drinks). A ticket is not needed for the Mass alone. Details of purchasing tickets are on the poster in the porch.
3rd November: ‘Romero: Heartbeat of El Salvador’ – a play by RISE theatre in association with the Romero Trust, looking at the life and legacy of the man who chose to challenge those in power and stand up for social justice. It is being performed in Lauriston Main Hall at 7.30 p.m. (It is only suitable for those 11+) and tickets can be obtained by contacting Andrew Cassidy on pastoral@lauriston.org.uk or on 229.9821. Poster and fliers are at the back of the Church.
18th November: Parish Project Table Sale from 11.00 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. It’s like a car boot sale without a car ! The idea is that you book a table and then you choose what you sell from it (as long as it is legal). Any profit you make is yours unless you choose to donate it on. The cost of booking a table is £20.00 and there is a list at the back of the Church on which you can indicate if you are interested in supporting this event.
Many thanks (1) to all who Gift Aid their collection. As a result I have received word that £8706.04 has been credited to the Parish account from H.R.M.C. via the Archdiocese. Please consider Gift Aiding your offerings if you are a tax payer.
Many thanks (2): The new running total for the Parish Project Fund is now £3251.56. Well done to anyone who has contributed in any way to achieving this total. If you want to do some fundraising just let me know so that it can be advertised and also to coordinate dates etc.
St. Cuthbert’s has always had a tremendous team of altar servers who add so much to the various Masses and ceremonies throughout the year. They are often commented upon by visiting priests and people. Training for new servers will begin soon. If you are not at St. Cuthbert’s school but would like to join the rota please collect a form from the sacristy. You need to have made your First Holy Communion and be prepared to commit to turning up for training and then serving.
All Hall Users Please note: The ladies toilets are going to be refurbished and will be sealed off and unusable. Toilet facilities are available beside the Committee Room and at the toilet in the side hall normally reserved for people with a disability. This situation will last for a while so please be patient.
