Diary Dates:

20th July: Meeting of Parish Pastoral Council at 7.00 p.m. in the house.  The members of the previous Pastoral Council have very generously agreed to stay on in an interim basis to help prepare for the forthcoming meetings, in the autumn, with Archbishop Cushley about the re-structuring process on which he has embarked. This will involve meeting with representatives from the other Parishes in the proposed cluster of St. Cuthbert’s, Our Lady’s, St. Joseph’s and St. John Ogilvie’s.   I am very grateful to them for taking up this critical role.

New Altar Servers are required to build up the existing band of loyal servers. Boys and girls, especially those who have just been confirmed and made their First Communion, are very welcome to offer their services to the Parish in this way. It would be good to see some of them coming forward. All ages are welcome. Adults also are very welcome to volunteer for this important role in the Parish.

A New Readers’ Rota is in the process of being prepared. If you would like to offer your services please contact Monsignor Tony or Mary Mulligan (455.7096) to let them know. Practices and training can be arranged if you are nervous about volunteering for this key role in Parish Life.

Situation Vacant: St. Joseph’s House in Gilmore Place have a vacancy for a part time R.G.N. nurse for night duties – three nights a week – 8.30 p.m. – 7.30 a.m. They are also looking for a volunteer for Reception Duties on alternate Saturdays from 2.00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m.

In the first instance please contact Mary Lewis   TEL No  0131 229 5672 or E-mail  Filecentre@aol.com for further details.

Holidays:  If you are going away, I hope you have a safe journey and come back refreshed and relaxed.  If you are staying at home, I hope you find some time to relax and take a break from your usual routine.

If you are a visitor, you are welcome to our Parish, our city and our country.

The Ladies Group, who run the Coffee Mornings on the 4th week of the month wish to thank all those who have supported them in their efforts. The ladies have been supporting Mary’s Meals for a number of years now and as a result of your support they have sent on £1080.00. Many thanks to everyone concerned.

Emergency Cover while I am in Lourdes will be provided by Father Tom (449.2372),  Father Tony Quinlan at St. John Ogilvie’s (453.5035) or Father George Donaghy at St. Joseph’s (443.3777)  I am grateful to them for providing this support and to the parishioners who will be looking after the house.

As the holiday season is now upon us will all Readers, Eucharistic Ministers and Altar Servers please remember to ensure they have arranged cover if they are going to be away.  This is especially important when a visiting priest is here to celebrate Mass.  Please use the ‘post its’ in the sacristy to let me know about any swaps you make.

With every best wish and blessing

To you, your families

And all those who are dear to you.

I wil be rembering you and your intentions

at the Grotto in Lourdes

Monsignor Tony.
