Today the box will be at the back of the Church into which you can put your petitions for Lourdes. These will be collected and taken to Lourdes and placed at the Grotto in the course of the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage which leaves on the 7th July.
Today: The stall has the new copies of ‘Day by Day’ and ‘Living Faith’ for the month of July ready for collection as soon as possible.
Sunday: The Coffee Morning after Mass will be organised by the Ladies Group. All welcome to go round to the Hall and sample the fare on offer.
Monday: Joint Meeting of the Parish Council of St. Cuthbert’s and that of Our Lady’s at 7.00 p.m. in Our Lady’s.
Tuesday: Meeting of Parish Fabric and Finance Committee in the house at 7.00 p.m.
Wednesday: Vigil Mass for the Feast of St. Peter & St. Paul in Our Lady’s at 6.00 p.m. on the Wednesday evening.
Thursday: Solemnity of St. Peter & St. Paul
A Holy Day of Obligation.
There will be no Mass during the day on the Thursday in Our Lady’s.
Masses in St. Cuthbert’s are at 9.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m.
Saturday: The annual Parish Barbeque and Quiz after the 6.00 p.m. Mass. Tickets will be £7.00 which includes two burgers and salads. Children’s tickets will be £3.00. Please buy/reserve your tickets today so that the catering can be organized. Any profit will go to the Parish Project Fund.
Friday: Please remember Ross Motion and Aisling Mangan who are being married in the Church at 1.30 p.m. May the Lord bless them and guide them throughout their married years.
Next Saturday/Sunday: Guess what – the last retiral collection before the holidays. (hopefully). This one is for Peter’s Pence the fund which the Pope uses to respond to various requests he receives for financial assistance.
Next Sunday: Mass in anticipation of the Lourdes Pilgrimage will take place here at 3.00 p.m. All welcome to attend whether travelling to Lourdes or not.
Youth Survey: Ahead of next October 2018’s Synod on Youth in Rome, Pope Francis has asked the young people of each country to tell him about their hopes and fears for their future and for the future of the Catholic Church. To this end, Catholic Youth Services Scotland have created an online survey to be distributed to schools and parishes across the country. It takes 10-15 minutes to complete. It’s open to anybody aged 11-35 and there is a chance to win £100 of Amazon vouchers. The deadline for completion is 30th June 2017. Go to http://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/CYSSYS/
Cluster Planning update: Archbishop Cushley writes: “I have now received nearly all of the reports from the clusters in response to the We Have Found the Messiah consultation process. As you will recall, the deadline for the return of the submissions was Eastertide 2017, but there are currently several reports outstanding. I’d be grateful to receive them as soon as possible. It may also be helpful to let your parishioners know that I am very grateful for the work that has gone into the reports already received. Once I have received and read all of them, depending on their content, I hope to be in a position to discuss them at the deanery level in the autumn and then to present some proposals at the cluster level, involving our parishioners, perhaps by the new year. By law the process will also involve, in due course, the consultation of the Council of Priests.”
Many congratulations to the boys and girls who celebrated their First Communion last Sunday in such a prayerful and reverend way. They are a credit to themselves, their families and those who prepared them in school and at home. Many thanks also to those who helped in the celebrations in the Church and in the Hall afterwards. All your hard work was much appreciated.
